Motivation: System make life easier and more efficient overall. Here are some of the systems I’ve refined so that you can copy.
Don’t reinvent: Copying is easier than designing your own.
Travel Systems
Principles:
Always ready: The idea is that these systems will remain fully packed 100% of the time. When you travel you simply throw all of these systems into your luggage and don’t have to think about anything.
Completeness/ Over-packing: It is faster and simpler to over pack than to manually decide what you need every time. You use the same system for a 2-day or a 2-month trip.
Consistency: Within the systems you pack everything in consistent way so that it’s faster and easier to check whether everything is there you depart and return, when you’re replacing consumable items, etc.
Duplicates: The system contains duplicates of everything you use in your daily life. You buy duplicates so that you don’t need to pack. You also keep replacements for consumable items like shampoo and conditioner ready to swap out.
Toiletries
This is a hanging toiletries bag with a large number of compartment. You would hang this on the towel rack or similar of your accommodation.
A laminated card is kept inside that lists all the contents and their locations for easy packing and to avoid forgetting anything on the road.
Outside flap: Sunscreen, condoms.
Top flap: Shampoo, conditioner, body wash.
Bottom flap: Facial cleanser, moisturizer, retinol, vitamin C.
Vertical pockets: manual razor, electric razor, toothbrushes.
Main section: Pommade, retainer.
Right pocket: Deodorant, microneedler, razor cartridges.
